“FD Grip” The No.1 earthquake-resistant rebar coupler in Japan, the highest seismic country, for over 30 years.
This guys is amazing! In this recording he’s welding shut an obsolete 5/8 inch residential gas line off the 2 inch main that runs through a neighborhood. This is an old system, maybe 40 or 50 years old, and it seems the 5/8 inch lines are inadequate at times – requiring an upgrade to a one inch line to the homes.
Anyway, I don’t know much about construction or repairs but have had a life-long fascination with this kind of work. Whenever I see a crew involved in something interesting I like to take a closer look, ask questions, and take pictures! After this recording the welder showed me some pix on his iPhone where he had been working on some 12 and 16 inch lines through the city’s business district. Pretty amazing work!
In two other related videos, on my channel, you can see them removing the street plates from this pit and then, later, using flowable fill to bring the street back to normal.
