CD400DP – 400ws CD resistance welder
WH2125A – Parallel pneumatic weld head
1/8″ copper electrodes (with tips tapered down to 0.057″)
The WH2125A is configured with copper electrodes that have 1/8″ shanks and are tapered down to 0.057″ at the tip. The electrodes are spaced with an 0.2″ gap between tip centers to align with the brackets. We performed the welds using the weld head set with a 15lbs spring force and 1awg weld cables. It is helpful to maintain a clean, flat, smooth surface on the tips of the electrodes for consistent weld actuation and minimized sticking.
The CD400DP is set with Pulse 1 off, Pulse 2 at 220ws, and Total Energy at 220ws to butt weld the edges of the rectangular stainless steel tube. The energy levels can be increased for more penetration if desired but we were trying to minimize weld splash by lowering the energy slightly.
The brackets are attached to the tubes with Pulse 1 off, Pulse 2 at 250ws, and Total Energy at 250ws. The fixtures made it much easier to weld and eliminated bending of the tube during the weld.
