Tianjin, 17 September 2026 — A delegation of international buyers spent a full day at Yuantai Derun Steel Pipe Group under the Canton Fair’s “Trade Bridge – China Industry Tour” programme, moving from the company’s exhibition hall in the morning to two large-diameter production lines, and closing with a matchmaking session at which four companies opened one-to-one partnership talks.
The day at the plant
The delegation arrived by coach and began in the group’s exhibition hall, where square, rectangular and large-diameter pipe samples were presented alongside the project references standing behind them.
The group then crossed to No. 3 mill for the two lines opened for inspection:
- the 500 mm large-diameter square tube mill
- the JCOE line, producing LSAW pipe from Ø406 mm to Ø1420 mm
Both lines drew phones and cameras. That footage, in most cases, is what gets replayed back at head office months later — which is the point of opening a plant at all.
The afternoon session, and the talks that followed
The second half of the day moved to a hotel in Tianjin for the official session. The programme is organised by the China Foreign Trade Centre — the institution behind the Canton Fair — together with the Tianjin Municipal Commerce Bureau. Its purpose is to put overseas buyers in front of running production lines rather than in front of brochures.
Zhu Yong, Director-General of the China Foreign Trade Centre; Li Jian, Deputy Director-General of the Tianjin Municipal Commerce Bureau; and Cao Jie, Director of the Foreign Trade Development Division of the Tianjin Municipal Commerce Bureau addressed the delegation at the afternoon session. The plant visit earlier that day was hosted by Yuantai Derun.
In the matchmaking segment that followed, four of the visiting companies opened one-to-one talks with the group and agreed to move forward. Those discussions are continuing.
What a single day on site is actually assessing
Behind one morning of walking a plant sits a manufacturing base that a buyer can put a schedule against.
Scale, and why it matters. Yuantai Derun operates 56 production lines with an annual capacity of 10 million tonnes, and holds a more than 20% share of China’s structural steel pipe market. It also carries a national-level manufacturing single champion designation. Line count is a delivery question as much as a capacity one: an order that would occupy a single line elsewhere can be spread across several, and a maintenance stop on one line does not stop the order.
Product range. Hollow structural sections in square and rectangular form; large-diameter LSAW pipe from Ø406 mm up to Ø1420 mm; heavy-wall sections for structural and infrastructure work.
Quality system. ISO 9001, CE EN 10219 / EN 10210 and API, with classification society approvals from BV, DNV, ABS and LR. Longitudinal weld seams are covered by automated ultrasonic testing, and orders ship with full documentation — mill test certificates to EN 10204 3.1, inspection reports and heat-number traceability.
Where the pipe ends up. The Beijing National Stadium (Bird’s Nest), Daxing International Airport and the Hong Kong–Zhuhai–Macao Bridge. A buyer treats these less as credentials than as a reference check — the part of the assessment that happens before the first email is written.
Next step
The four conversations opened at the event are ongoing. Buyers who would rather see the lines themselves can arrange a plant visit through Yuantai Derun Steel Pipe Group.
