making the REAL GEAR Hand spinner fidget toy was a real pleasure. I’ve had this gear, which is an actual gear used in an actual machine, sitting on my desk for several years. since i sold my favorite spinner the hollow batman, i wanted to have another one. so the idea to convert the gear was an easy one.

i first used a much bigger bearing but it would not spin very nicely. this was a great mistake because i had a rather large bore in the gear i needed to fill and the thought for the bronze insert was immediate. it came out much nicer and quite differently than i planned.

i am becoming a big fan of the recessed buttons, they seem more streamlined and and graceful than protruding buttons.

this is the third hand spinner and i am becoming a big fan of these things. at first they seem quite silly and useless but the desire to spin them is real and once you have one you really like it is difficult to put down.

i may do a production run of this gear spinner so if you are interested please let me know.

the buttons are recessed into the body of the spinner so that only the top surface is exposed.
to be clear i used the left over buttons from the Alpha design for this spinners.
